Danny DeVito wants to reprise his role as Penguin in a future Batman film!
“Yeah sure I would return back to him. I think he’s misunderstood – a bird that cannot fly. He’s tortured. I like that operative value. It would be great to do again, I’ve thought of that but I never had the opportunity to revisit any of the characters I’ve played.
I’d love to see how he survived down in the sewer for all those years. Rescued by birds, and somehow he became partners with Christopher Walken. You could do a double-hander. Did I kill him in that? It doesn’t matter, he could come back to life.”
I’m just saying, umbrellas ain’t arrows or batarangs, they are BULKY, yet the brother has a trick umbrella for EVERY occasion. Green Arrow can pack a freaking SCORE of trick arrows, Penguin can only carry two umbrellas at once. And don’t tell me “Well maybe he can only fit one trick in an umbrella”-THIS IS COMIC BOOK LAND DAMMIT-we got living streets, batcows, and books published by Ben Percy, logic is screwy here!
In Batman #58, we were introduced to Penny Cobblepot, the much younger wife of the Penguin… who doesn’t even show up on panel, with her introduction being Oswald’s henchmen informing him that she had been murdered and dumped outside his nightclub…
Seemingly, she was created purely for this story to cause Oswald to turn against Bane’s stupidly overcomplicated scheme to “break“ Batman, the same scheme which also featured Bane getting Holly Robinson to sabotage Bruce and Selina’s wedding, FYI.
More than a bit of a waste. And more than a bit sexist. *sigh* I miss Scott Snyder.
Side note: Oswald is wearing a monocle with a darken lens, seemingly to hide the injury sustained when Jason Todd up and shot him in the face a short while ago.
Oddly, this is a feature of the Penguin’s new design was not included in Tom King’s other series, Heroes in Crisis, however. There he was more in line with the design from Batman Returns.
Consistancy!
Fun Fact: This is in fact the second new member we’ve seen of the Cobblepot family, with Oswald’s son being introduced over in the recent Batgirl series, Ethan Cobblepot, aka the supervillain Black Sun. He’s the son of Oswald and one of his waitresses, who founded his own tech firm following his dad funding his way through college.
